Our first hostel was founded in 1987 and was completely remodeled in 2002, following Hostelling International®'s high standards.
Mario, Clarita and myself, Danny, a family
from Buenos Aires, set out on this adventure
in 1987 to create the first youth hostel in Southern Patagonia, with
no experience in tourism other than travelling around the world - Mario
had previously been an engineer, Clarita a schoolteacher, and myself...
a bicycle and kayak traveller!
At that time the hostel featured just 12 beds and our eager disposition. Today we offer over 200 beds in two hostels, and we are number one in our class in El Calafate, always maintaining the same high quality standards as in our beginnings.

My wife Filo and I are now in charge of managing our hostels. With over 17 years of continuous work in Calafate, we have grown and have now capacity for over 200 people in different types of accomodation. We also offer an array of services which include a full-service travel agency, restaurant, and our renowned tours.
Although we have grown, our spirit remains the same: to create the place that we would like to find ourselves when traveling - comfortable, reasonably-priced, very clean, and run by friendly people that understand the needs of the independent traveler.
In January 2004 we opened Hostel del Glaciar Libertador, our new hostel on El Calafate's main street.
